watercolor, pastel, acrylic
I was an artist by age five. I grew up and was educated in California, but have lived in Washington State for the last forty years. I was the associate gallery director at the Larson Gallery in Yakima in the early eighties and was a Montessori teacher in Spokane until my retirement in 2009. Much of my inspiration for plein air painting comes from the open spaces of Hawaii, Australia, Norway, Canada, and the Columbia Gorge. I’m best known for my collaboration with Spokan Indian artist George Flett in the creation of an e-book, Red Dawn: Spokan Indian Legends of Emily Phillips (2011).
