Washougal Studio Artists Tour (WSAT) News – Thank You, Shirley!

After six incredible years of leadership, dedication, and heart, Shirley Bishop is stepping into her next chapter—and we at WSAT want to take a moment to offer our deepest gratitude and best wishes.

When Shirley first took on the role of organizer, she was driven by a fierce determination not to let the Studio Tour fade away. She dove in with curiosity, courage, and a deep belief in the power of community. What followed was nothing short of inspiring. Through her leadership, vision, energy, and tireless work and collaboration with the WSAT Steering Committee, Shirley has worked to shape WSAT into a thriving and artist-centered event that continues to grow in strength and spirit.

Along the way, she discovered new friendships, expanded her own artistic journey, and practiced the art of delegation. Shirley’s reflections about learning to slow down, breathe, and trust in the community she helped shape are a beautiful reminder that art is not just about the final piece, but the relationships and stories behind it.

As Shirley and her husband look ahead to sunshine, golf, and more time together, we celebrate the legacy she leaves with WSAT. She’s passing the torch to Susan Elizabeth Fronckowiak, who steps in with deep appreciation for all that has been built by the Washougal Studio Artists team and with a strong vision for the future.

Shirley, thank you for your wisdom, laughter, patience, and powerful example. Wherever your path leads, know that the foundation you’ve helped build here will continue to support artists for years to come. You will be missed—and always remembered with heartfelt gratitude. Here's to your next chapter!

-The Washougal Studio Artists

The Washougal Studio Artists Tour would not be possible without the incredible dedication and collaborative spirit of the City of Washougal and the volunteer team behind the scenes. Our heartfelt thanks go to the dedicated volunteers whose time, creativity, and care shape every aspect of the tour: Lara Blair, Phyllis Carter, Judi Clark, Tamara Dinius, Susan Elizabeth Fronckowiak, Yvonne Yee Gee, Elaine Lim, Kathy Marty, Toni McCarthy, Sandy Moore, and Holli Spanski. Alongside them, various volunteers generously step in to support and uplift this community-centered event. Together, they are the heart of the Washougal Studio Artists Tour—making it not only a success, but a celebration of art, connection, and place.
